Harddrive Data Recovery
Half fixed ext harddrive needs to be reformatted. Won’t mount correctly. Help!!!!?
I have a Western Digital ext hdd that got messed up. I can’t get into it except with Power Data Recovery. The program allowed me to copy everything off the drive onto another. I now want to reformat it so it will once again work normally.
It does show as mass hard drive on the Device Manager thing.
I can ONLY see the info using Power Data Recovery.
It does not appear as an icon on my computer.
I can ONLY COPY info off of the messed up ext hdd.
I have EVERYTHING off of there I needed to get off.
It is plugged in using Sata 2 to usb since my computer doesn’t have internal sata 2.
It does not show as an icon anywhere or allow me to view or do anything with the files.
How do I go about reformatting the hard drive so that I might put it back in its ext case and used it like it was bought to be used?
I am trying to refrain from fixing it with a hammer and insanity.

Go to administrative tools
Computer Management
And check the drive letter of the drive
Make sure it’s not sharing a thumb disk or something this might be why it is not showing up.
If that doesn’t do it for you I would recommend finding someone who has a SATA port. Connect it and run kill disk. There is a free version for download on the net. This will completely wipe the drive of everything. Do a low level format, and you should be all good.
